Our Process

How it works

Initial Design Meeting

01

After booking a free consultation with SA Design Drafting, we will either meet our client onsite, at our office or over Zoom to discuss their new project.

In this meeting we will look at existing and proposed floor plans, taking in to consideration the possibilities and limitations of the renovation, extension or new home depending on its location and potential.

This initial design meeting is integral to the design phase, allowing the client to express key elements they desire in the project (design brief) as well as allowing the designer to share their expertise.

Preliminary Drawings

02

The next phase of the process involves the designer developing and preparing preliminary drawings for our client to visualise their new project.

A site plan, floor plan, and elevations are included in this part of the process for the client to review and revise.

If site levels are required, this service can be undertaken by SA Design Drafting.

Planning Consent Application

03

Once our client is satisfied with their new home design, it is time to submit the plans to the council for consent.

Our designer will complete the required documentation to the planning department at the relevant council and ensure the proposed work meets their requirements.

Construction Documentation

04

After planning consent has been granted, construction documentation can commence in order to obtain building approval.

This phase includes all documentation required for construction and building approval. This includes; architectural working drawings, soil testing, relevant structural engineering, energy efficiency assessment, timber framing design and septic/soakage engineering.

Building Approval

05

Once the construction documentation has been finalised, the plans are then ready for building and full development approval through a council or a private certifier.
